Our Services
Riverina Mowing provides all of our clients with a full range of garden care services. If you would like to know about a service not listed here please contact us as we are always looking for ways you make your yard nicer.
Rotary lawn mowing uses a rotary blade which spins at a high velocity parallel to the ground to cut the grass. The cut this technique produces is a little “rougher” than the technique a cylinder mower will use. This is because essentially the blade “hacks” the excess grass off, rather than slicing it. However do not let this put you off as the finish is still of an extremely high standard and this is the most common type of lawn mowing used by both families and lawn mowing service providers.
Rotary Mowing should be done every week - fortnight during spring and summer. For the best results Riverina Mowing recommends weekly mowing, during the growing seasons.
Riverina Mowing provides one of the highest quality lawn mowing options with our new Cylinder Lawn Mower. Cylinder lawn mowers, also called Barrel or Reel Mowers, are for those people that want a “bowling green” perfect finish.
Cylinder Mowers use a very different cutting technique to ordinary Rotary Mowers. For instance the blade they use is very different to the rotary blades used on other types. These mowers carry a horizontally fixed cylinder of blades which is able to cut the blades of grass more precisely using a scissor like action rather than a hacking motion. They offer a lower cut that any other type of mower as the cutting height adjustment systems that are installed on them typically go as low as 5mm as opposed to 25mm for rotary mowers.
Riverina Mowing offers our Cylinder Mowing Service on a weekly basis. Anything longer than weekly will simply not produce the desired result.
To create the perfect professional finish every time is its critical to produce clean straight edges. Riverina Mowing take the care to make sure this is exactly what our clients get each and every time.
Both lawn mowing services include professional lawn edging.
Thatch is the layer of living and dead stems, roots, stolons, and rhizomes between the green blades of grass and the soil surface.
A thin layer of thatch (less than 1/2 inch thick) can be beneficial to the lawn because it helps to limit weed germination, reduce water evaporation, and protect from frost damage. However, thick thatch layers can prevent water, air, and nutrients from penetrating the soil, causing reduced root growth and increased potential for drought stress.
Thatch also favors fungal growth and can harbor insect pests. Some turfgrass species, such as tall fescue and perennial ryegrass, do not produce much thatch. Other turfgrass species, such as Kykuyu and Buffalo, have creeping growth habits and rapidly build thick thatch layers.
For the health and beauty of your lawn Riverina Mowing offers to "Bust the Thatch" and return your lawn to the healthy colour and feel that a beautiful lawn should have.
If your lawn has gotten out of control, let Riverina Mowing bring it back to life. We offer a full grass slashing service.
Lawn aeration (also known as core cultivation, lawn coring or plugging) is a process in which a machine pulls small plugs of soil about the size your finger from the lawn. These are normally left on the surface where they will break down in about two weeks, however Riverina Mowing will remove all cores for a better finished result. Golf course greens keepers use this process several times a year to keep their courses in top playing condition. Lawns grown in clay soils should have this done at least once a year.
Aeration, or core cultivation, is standard lawn care. Aerating a lawn means supplying the soil with air, usually by poking holes in the ground throughout the lawn using an aerator. It reduces soil compaction and helps control thatch in lawns while helping water and fertilizer move into the root zone.
